1Who we are
BorderCue ("the app", "we", "us") is an independent iOS app published by Maksim Aligin. For privacy questions, contact [email protected].
2Privacy by design
The app works without an account, developer server, advertising, analytics, or tracking. We do not receive your travel documents, trip history, notes, reminders, or calculations. The app does not request or use GPS location.
3Data stored on your device
Documents, travel dates, stay rules, notes, reminder settings, language, theme, and purchase entitlement are stored locally on your device. A limited snapshot of the same local data is placed in an Apple App Group container so the app's widgets and App Shortcuts can show the information you requested. The App Group is shared only by BorderCue and its own extensions; it is not a developer server and does not transmit the snapshot to us.
4Backup export, import, and Apple backups
BorderCue can create a JSON backup only when you choose Export. You select where that file goes using Apple's share sheet, and the selected destination or app then handles it under its own privacy terms. Import reads only the backup file you explicitly select with Apple's document picker.
iOS device or iCloud Backup may include app data according to your Apple device settings. Those backups are provided and controlled by Apple; we cannot access them. Exported files and system backups are outside BorderCue's in-app delete controls and must be managed at their destination.
5Notifications, widgets, and App Shortcuts
Deadline reminders are scheduled locally through Apple's notification system after you enable them. Widget and App Shortcut calculations are performed on device from the App Group snapshot. BorderCue does not operate a notification server and does not receive the content of reminders, widgets, or shortcuts.
Information shown in widgets can be visible on your Home or Lock Screen. Use iOS widget and notification privacy settings appropriate for your device.
6Pro purchase
The optional lifetime Pro upgrade is processed by Apple through StoreKit. The app receives only the verified purchase status needed to unlock Pro. We do not see your card number, billing address, or other payment credentials. Apple's own handling of purchases is governed by the Apple Privacy Policy.
7Support messages
The app does not send support data automatically. If you email us, you voluntarily provide your email address and the content or attachments you choose to include. We use that information only to answer and troubleshoot your request, and retain it only as reasonably necessary for support or legal record keeping. Please do not send passport numbers, full travel-document images, or an unredacted backup unless it is essential and you understand what it contains.
8Retention and deletion
Local data remains on your device until you delete individual records, use the in-app delete-all action, or uninstall the app. Deleting the app removes its local container subject to Apple's device-backup behavior. Files you previously exported must be deleted from their chosen destination separately. Because we do not receive an account copy of your app data, there is no server-side travel profile for us to delete.
9Data sharing and sale
We do not sell personal data. We do not share app content with advertisers, data brokers, analytics providers, or other third parties. Apple may process purchase, distribution, backup, notification, and platform diagnostics data as the provider of iOS and the App Store under its own terms.
10Children
BorderCue is a general travel-planning utility and is not directed to children. The app has no account, social features, advertising, or developer collection of a child's travel data.
11Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the app or applicable requirements change. The date above will be updated, and significant changes may also be described in the App Store release notes. The published policy always describes the current version's data practices.
